Shadywood Cabin is a lovely, ranch-style cabin set in a private clearing on wooded property. Just minutes from Chautauqua Lake, this modern rental home offers guests the convenience of a large, shaded yard, with beautiful walking and snowmobiling trails leading right from the front door. Newly built in 2011, Shadywood Cabin sits on 60 acres of privately owned property, making this a quiet, peaceful and adventurous getaway in the heart of the New York countryside. The home is spacious and inviting with an open floor plan, vaulted ceilings and multi-story windows that fill the living area with dappled natural light.
In the main room, a full kitchen is situated in a corner with a free-standing breakfast bar and stools. A formal dining table is set with chairs for six. On the other side of the space, a sofa and reading chairs are gathered around the view, with a television and a small, gas fireplace for cold nights. A rustic, wooden staircase leads to a lofted sleeping area that overlooks the great room. Throughout this home, high-end furnishings highlight the work of local craftsmen. Outside, the free-roaming yard and private acreage provide plenty of space for off-street parking and temporary storage of boats, trailers and extra vehicles. Level ground cleared of trees also provides an ideal setting for campfires or pitching a tent under the stars.
Sleeping arrangements: Shadywood Cabin contains three private sleeping quarters: two carpeted bedrooms on the main floor are furnished with queen-sized beds and have attached bathrooms with rainwater showers. The lofted sleeping are is equipped with two twin-sized beds.
Shadywood has a uniquely beautiful vantage point among the trees on 60 acres uninhabited by neighbors and untraversed by traffic. The front of the home features a full-length, covered porch with Adirondack chairs and a large grill. A second patio to the side of the house is fitted with a small table and chairs, perfect for a quiet cup of coffee and a sunrise. Our land is connected to snowmobile and hiking or biking trails too!
The spacious backyard provides a children’s play set with swings and a slide, a large, open-air kennel and plenty of space to run. Further from the house, guests will find a picturesque picnic table and bonfire ring in an open field, which also provides an excellent place for stargazing — softly herbed and far from the city lights. With its tall trees and lush vegetation, Shadywood Cabin is also a great place for birdwatching.
This secluded modern cabin is conveniently located near both beautiful natural features and fun community attractions and services. The nearest and pub and restaurant are located within a mile from the property, while the nearest golf course and beach are located within two. Visitors to the area can enjoy a leisurely afternoon perusing the Crossroads Farm & Craft Market or pay a visit to the Wine Trail. Local entertainments include modern cinemas, live theater, a health spa and massage therapist, museums and antique shops.
Adventurous guests can head downhill on skis or snowboards at the Peek ‘n’ Peak Resort in the snowy months, or stop in at the Chautauqua Marina for boating, sailing, water skiing and wind-surfing. The surrounding countryside also offers opportunities for rock climbing, hiking, biking and snowmobiling trails, fishing and kayaking, horseback riding and especially wildlife viewing. Chautauqua Lake has a little something for everyone!

Love this house! It was so comfortable and clean and decorated so nice. There was everything you needed at the house! The location was great, and we saw lots of deer in the back yard. The owner Bob was very nice and accommodating and left us a nice bottle of wine. We would definitely come back! Patricia M.
We loved our time here and were able to fit ten people in this cabin! It made the perfect reunion for all of our friends, and we had plenty of space to get ready for a wedding. Very clean and the rooms were bigger than it even seems in the pictures! The property is beautiful, and we truly felt like we were on a retreat! Emily B.
The home was very clean, comfortable, and spacious! We only stayed a few nights but would definitely book again in the future if we return. We would have loved to enjoy the front porch and the spacious back yard leading into the field if the weather cooperated. The wine was a nice touch. The owners covered everything from amenities to linens. The space was also comfortable for our dog. Thank you for having us! Jill R.
Our family stayed at Shadywood Cabin for our first experience at snowmobiling. The cabin was so clean and comfortable. The owner Bob was so accommodating when we initially needed to change our dates. We were able to snowmobile on the property and the trails were close-by. The gas fireplace was great when we had to come in from the cold. Bob was very available, and we had a great vacation. We highly recommend this property. Pam S.
This place was great!! A large open living room that can be made easily cozy by the gas fire place. There was two of us staying and we each had our personal favorites about the accommodation. Mine was the cleanliness of the house as we walked in. We rented a house in New Mexico a few days before and due to the collection of trinkets all over the place it created clutter and dust. NOT THIS PLACE!! Very pristine. Sunny F.
We just returned from a weekend stay at Shadywood with friends. It was beautiful! We were impressed with how clean it was. They have everything you need, from a kitchen stocked with dishes, utensils, and cookware to an outdoor fire pit with chairs and firewood. The owners even left us a bottle of local wine to enjoy. There was plenty of space and I liked how the downstairs bedrooms each had attached bathrooms. The cabin was easy to find and a short drive to most nearby attractions and activities. We enjoyed visiting Southern Tier Brewery, which was about a 20-minute drive away. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it! Lauren K.

We purchased Shadywood Cabin in 2011, commissioning it to be built on our own land where we have greatly enjoyed the outdoors in all seasons. We have both lived and worked in the area all of our lives and are currently both self-employed. We enjoy the country setting and the many activities — especially those surrounding Chautauqua Lake — right outside our door.
